Overview:

A clean, well-made bed not only feels good, but is also an important component to an individual's comfort and safety. A well-made bed helps to avoid problems such as pressure ulcers and the spread of infection, and provides a sense of well-being and self-worth. To teach new nursing assistants this important skill, this program demonstrates the techniques for making both the unoccupied bed and an occupied bed.

Objectives:

Medcom’s Nursing Assistant program on bedmaking has been revised to be more concise and easier to understand by clearly identifying each of the three stages of a procedure: preparation, the procedure itself, and completing care. In addition, this program has been updated to demonstrate the performance of nursing assistant skills as described by the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP™).

Using this format, this program will demonstrate:

• Making an unoccupied bed
• Making the occupied bed
